Information About Tammy Cadieux the Designer

Hello! First of all, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a nurse by profession. I have been married for 12 years in Sept. 2007. We have three boys the youngest was born June 2006 and we love to spend good quality time together.

I have been making jewelry for about four years now. Learning by trial and error I have created and designed high quality jewelry which I have sold to friends, family, and to small amount of the general public. I believe I have a gift with jewelry design. I really love to make things because I am a creative type of person. Beading is one of my favorite passions. I love to make a different peices of jewelry just to see what I could design. Now I have the opportunity to bring my unique handmade beaded jewelry to the whole wide world. I am so excited and I hope you love my beaded jewelry designs as much as I do and will return often. I will have new products regularly so please check back with me often.

I also offer you the customer the chance join in on the design process and create with me that unique one of a kind peice of jewelry that will make everyone ask "Where did you get that awesome jewelry!" So whatever you the customer desires or needs just let me know. You can email me with any ideas that you have for a bracelet, necklace, earrings, or ankle bracelet and I will make it for you according to you color specifications and size. Maybe you like a particular design of my jewelry but would like a different color or size just email or call and we will create together that very special and unique design that you desire.

Beads and Components I May Use In My Beaded Jewelry

* Crystal Beads- SwarovskiÒ Crystal components are made in Austria and are considered one of the finest products of their kind in the world. *The lead in the glass makes colors vivid and translucent. Aurora Borealis finish applied to the bead have the same vivid colors, with the addition of a “rainbowed“ coating. Used regularly to represent your birthstone.

* Gemstones - Gemstones I have used in my jewelry designs include Botswana, Blue Lace Agate, Amber, Green Moss Agate, Blackstone, Flourite, Howlite, Malachite, Obsidian, Onyx, Sodalite, Garnet, Turquoise, Amethyst, Aventurine, Quartz, Jasper, Agate, Unakite, Peridot, Tigereye, Rhodonite, Carnelian, Jade and Coral. Gemstones are unique because each bead has different patterns created naturally throughout the world.

* Glass Beads - Are used widely throughout my handmade beaded jewelry and the include: Crackle glass beads are heated and rapidly cooled to produce internal crackles which increase light reflection. Desert Sun beads are clear glass beads that are coated in gold or silver plating and then fired, after that they are coated with color and refired, shrinking the color coating away from the plating, forming fissures. Cat’s Eye beads are a fiber optic glass and come in a vivid array of colors. Dichroic glass is a high tech spin off of the space industry and is made by melting multiple, micro thin layers of different metals onto the surface of the glass, causing an endless array of dazzling metallic colors. Czech Fire Polished beads are imported and known for quality and innovative colors in a wide variety of shapes. Sea Opal is a special glass which is a milky light blue to clear color. Lampwork are handmade bead and are being produces by artisans all around the globe with dazzling arrangements of color and detail which make them a true collector piece., Druk are imported from the Czech Republic and are quality beads in tantalizing colors. Goldstone and Blue Goldstone which contain thousands of shiny flecks which sparkle in a tinted stone which is man-made. Each of these types of glass beads have been used in my designs.

* Cultured Freshwater Pearls - Freshwater Pearls are made within an oyster and can be natural or dyed. They come in a wide variety of colors shapes, sizes and lusters. The variety of colors are truly breath taking.

* Sterling Silver - Used throughout my gallery it is a precious metal and one of the most popular products for jewelry design. Sterling Silver beads and components are made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper or other alloy. These proportions are fixed by law. Sterling silver will “patina” over time and its color will take on an “antique” look. Bali silver is sterling silver that has already been antiqued. Sterling silver can be polished but if you place an anti-tarnish strip next to your silver and then place it in a box or bag it will keep it from tarnishing.

* Silver or Gold Plated - Refers to jewelry or components in which a layer of sterling silver or gold has been applied to the surface of a base metal. Shine can rub off after a while so I try to not these types of products but are less costly and if treated well will still look nice. * Vermeil - Is a sterling silver bead or component with an electroplated layer of 22k-24k gold. It is sold by weight many times and is more expensive product. The electroplated layer is guaranteed to last and not rub off like the silver and gold plated items.

* Antiqued Silver or Gold Plated Pewter - Pewter is the base metal used to create the shape of the beads they are then Silver or Gold plated and usually antiqued. Please note: Pewter may contain small trace amounts of lead and it may not be suitable for children who may place the beads in their mouth. It is possible that these metal beads and components, although made without lead, can contain enough trace amounts to require a lead warning. Our suppliers have been assured by the companies that produce these metal beads and components that they are safe to use in jewelry designs and safe to wear. These types of metal beads and components are mass produced and used everyday. Somme suppliers have now created them totally lead free. I will let you know in my descriptions if it is lead free or not.

* Accu-Flex or Soft flex - These are two types of professional quality beading wire used to create my necklaces, bracelets, ankle bracelets, lanyards or any other beaded jewelry design needing durable long lasting applications. This cable is amazingly strong and very flexible. It consists of 7 stainless steel cable strands twisted together to make a bundle then placed next to 6 other bundles which get twisted together to produce a total of 49 strands and then coated with a nylon coating. You can buy either 7, 19, 21, and 49 strand beading wire. I do not use the 7 strand strength. I will only use the top three because I want my designs to last a long time.

* Final Thought - Please be advised that this information is placed here to inform you of the types of products that are out there on the market today and some of the products that I may use to create my designs. If you are not careful you maybe buying cheap beads at a very large price. If you buy a piece of jewelry make sure you really know what it is made of so that you are not paying an arm and a leg for low quality beads or wiring.
